Rust is a problem that can appear in both vintage cars, but increasingly manifests itself in relatively new accident-free designs. Often all it takes is a minor bump or a chipping from a stone, one winter and corrosion is ready. Where can it appear? How to try to prevent it and how to repair a body part rusted through later?

Which components are most vulnerable? These are undoubtedly the metal parts located in the lower part of the car. Among them are: rear fenders, sills, front fenders, fuel tank clamps or exhaust system. Where does rust in these areas come from? During winter, water with salt is carried away from under the wheels and deposited on these parts. If we add to this damage to the paint caused by hitting rocks or inept attempts to lift the car - we have a recipe for corrosion.

Typically, ad hoc repairs involving sanding down the corrosion focus area, filling the resulting hole and repainting are effective in the very short term. You can never perfectly remove all the rust and the problem will quickly return.

A great alternative turns out to be a repair part. But what exactly is this repair part? It is a sheet metal piece that needs to be inserted in place of a previously created defect. It has a shape that allows it to easily fit with the rest of the body. Thanks to the use of a reperture, there is no need to replace the entire element, so savings follow. Repairs with the use of a repair part involve cutting out the corroded element, welding, welding or gluing the repair part to the car body, anti-corrosion protection and painting the element. Correctly performed replacement of a corroded threshold or fender is a guarantee of peace of mind for several or more years!
